Our Favorite E3 Moments – Mortal Kombat 3 Debuts at E3 1995

We often hear complaints from angry gamers and journos about the current state of E3. They say that the show’s not what it used to be. It’s getting there. E3 2010 was definitely a few steps up from what 2008 and 2007 were in presentation: lights, colors booth babes with swords.

Still, if you ask the OBG staff what they think of E3, we will tell you that we don’t mind the show the way it is right now. Then again, we had no problem with E3 2008, because games didn’t get lost in the crowd. One thing we can sure as hell tell you is that it’s a relief to know that E3 isn’t the same event it was in 1995.

This presentation of Mortal Kombat 3 at E3 1995 (actually the first E3 ever) is so bad it’s good. Next time you want to whine about how E3 isn’t what it used to be, force yourself to watch this video:

Warner Makes $33 million Offer for Midway

Gamasutra reports that Warner has made a $33 million bid for Midway games in what they call a stalking horse” asset purchase (whatever that means) agreement.

The purchase would include Mortal Kombat and Midway’s Chicago and Seattle studios.

According to Gamasutra, Warner’s bid is above the target sale amount of $30 million that Midway announced earlier this year.

The bid leaves out Midway’s San Diego studio and the TNA games. The Newcastle studio, who developed Wheelman is also excluded from the bid, but Gamasutra reports that Midway corporate communications head Geoffrey Mogilner said that the Wheelman IP would be included in the deal if approved. He added that it was Warner’s choice not to include particular studios and IPs in their bid.
