According to Evil Avatar, a fan-made map that recreates the Crossroads Mall from the Dawn of the Dead remake will be making it into Left 4 Dead in an update as Dead Before Dawn.
Here is a quote from the Left 4 Dead Mods forum (forums were down for maintenance when I tried to go) grabbed through Evil Avatar:
Dead Before Dawn, the replica of the Crossroads Mall from the movie Dawn of the Dead (2004) is coming to Left 4 Dead. The DBD team has been working tirelessly on the campaign and has vowed not to stop until the campaign is ready for release. Previously, we stated that the estimated release date will be the 1th of July (lol). At the time of this announcement, Valve was said to release the full SDK in a week’s time. That didn’t happen and we were forced to postpone the release date, BUT, Valve has now confirmed that next week we will have our dirty paws on the full version of the SDK and we’re ready for it. I would like to use this opportunity to give you guys a rundown of what’s been happening the past few months. So let’s get crackin’
Ok as you all (should) know, the Crossroads Mall map was originally made for the Half-Life 2 Mod, No More Room in Hell. Which is back into production and for the past 8 weeks, we’ve had regular updates from the mod team and they are hard at work. We cover all the news from No More Room in Hell on our site as well. (Since it’s Zombie related).
Myself and Darth_Brush are project lead on Dead Before Dawn (darth_brush being the godly mapper and I use my super powers in public relations and publicity to promote the campaign and various other tasks concerned to the campaign).

I hope that this is not a mistake. Still, chances are it is. We know that Valve has gone on the record as saying that they will not develop for the PS3, but anything is possible.
As much as I would like this to be real, my guess is that EA just messed up. Still, one can dream:

Found it on NeoGAF.
Update: Looks like my dreaming wasn’t enough to bring L4D2 to the PS3. EA has since removed any mention of a Left 4 Dead 2 for the PlayStation 3.
Silence, petition signers!
These are the L4D Updates coming next week. The following is straight from Valve’s Left 4 Dead Blog.
Third party campaigns are designed to be installed using a new Add-On framework. Content authors will be able to package up their new maps, along with new posters, models, and textures, into a single .VPK file.
Because Left 4 Dead is all about sharing, we’ve re-tooled Left 4 Dead’s matchmaking system to provide extensive support for custom add-on campaigns. When creating or searching for a lobby, a new option named “Add-on campaign” will let you select from among the add-on campaigns that you have installed.
We’re also officially releasing the Authoring tools/SDK. Thanks to all who provided feedback during the open beta, the authoring tools have been updated with a few fixes and several new additions, including:
- The tutorial_standards map has been expanded into a minimal example campaign add-on called ‘Dead Line’
- A new command line utility for creating and extracting from .VPK files
- Source files for all the official campaign maps
Also, look for a new tutorial on how to package up your campaigns into add-ons on the Developer Community wiki.

ESRB doesn’t want chewed off fingers, it seems. One is ok, just not two.
Valve has been in the news quite a bit these days. Mostly for trying to fend off angry petition signers, an issue addressed by Sessler’s Soapbox yesterday.
Now, Valve had to change the Left 4 Dead 2 cover art, which was deemed too violent by the ESRB. The new image now has the pinky and ring finger bent rather than ripped off by a zombie.
It’s alright. The cover art still looks nice.

Once again, thanks to Tommy for the link and the heads up!

Btw, is it just me, or does Adam Sessler have the coolest freakin’ shoes?
